| The Culver Naval School 1918 Catalog | |||||
|
This fascinating artifact was generously loaned the library by Ted Schenberg, and I opted to present the entire catalog (all 48 + pages of it!) here for the amount of wonderful photography and historical information it provides. The application form itself, amazingly enough, is still intact (it's the last image of the lot)! This item apparently would have been sent to prospective students and their families who requested details about the summer Naval School program. Another item from Mr. Schenberg's collection indicates that the cost of a summer's attendance around this period would have been in the $200 range, quite a sum in that era (bedroom sets sold in Sears & Roebuck during this period for around $15, if that gives any indication). As always, click each image for an enlarged version. |
