Board Meeting July 17, 2012

Members: Joan Bess, Joyce Greeson, Jim Hahn, Al Nyby, Melanie Robertson, Carol Saft, Peg Schuldt

Public Comment:

Teacher Tina Bailey seeking a waiver to continue dyslexia tutoring at no charge for our meeting room;

waiver issue tabled until 8-21-12 meeting because three members are absent

parents attested to the improvement of their child from this system

Charlotte Hahn speaking for the Friends of the Library: they will be sponsoring a program on 7-23-12 at 1:00 -- Elf Hunter series by CS Marks.

Report from the Antiquarian & Historical Society: none

Treasurer’s Report: Jim Faulkner presenting Alfred‘s Power Point report

motion to accept the report and the Register of Claims was made by Peg and seconded by Melanie

Finance Committee Report: Colleen

a scheduled DLGF meeting for 7-20-12 with Kurt Ott in Plymouth will be attended by Colleen, Alfred and Jim

two budgets will be presented in an effort to align expenditures with income, past projections have given an inaccurate picture of actual operations

Director’s Report: Colleen McCarty

Rita Lawson Science Fiction Collections will be dedicated 7-21-12, with the Friends providing light refreshments

the upcoming meeting of the DLGF as discussed previously

Pratt Floor Covering is cleaning the carpets and upholstered furniture in two sessions at a cost of $2000. They did the same in 2011, for the same price.

CUTPL will be offering more computer technology classes as part of People’s University, Andrew and Jim are working on these now

CUTPL will also be offering People’s University classes on spinning with a local person who raises alpacas in September and October

The Apron Lady is scheduled for 7-24-12

Circulation of books has increased over 2011 numbers and DVD check outs have dipped slightly;

Support staff have met and made suggestions about how we can continue to meet the patrons’ needs and increase our circulation

Park Board: Peg Schuldt

queries are being made to install a better fishing pier and additional toilet facilities for the depot/park

swimming lessons are continuing

another ice cream social is upcoming

New Business:

Colleen presented a resolution to commit CUTPL to join the Indiana State Library Consortium which insures all computers are filtered for 2012-13 per eRate reimbursement requirements

a motion to accept was made by Joan and seconded by Peg
