moved by Joan to accept the May 15th, 2012 minutes, and seconded by Peg


Treasurer's Report: Al Nyby

Register of Claims for $77,411.28 was presented

motion to accept was made by Peg and seconded by Joan


Finance Committee Report: Al

on 7-20-12 there will be a budget meeting with Kurt Ott of the Dept of Local Government Finance for the 2013 budget

it is recommended to wait on the upgrade of the fire alarm system, since the existing contract will expire in the near future

the results of the insurance evaluation are in and have been given to our agent, Scott McKinnis of Miller Norcen Ins.:

the structure had been insured for $3,557,000.00, the new number is $4,338,800.00

personal property had been insured for $289,400.00,the new numbers is $509,200.00

Mr Dan Buckland of Noblesville evaluations were very valuable; $300.00 for an annual review will be continued, for 10 years, with a re-evaluation at that time

the expense of Internet content filters will end this August when we start using the free content filtering software product offered by our Internet provider, ENA

two new hires: Terri Dehning for Children's and John Davis for the main circulation desk

the dedication of the Science Fiction area in memorial of Rita Lawson will be Saturday July 21st at 2:00 pm with light refreshments provided by the Friends

the Children's Dept brought in Indiana Wild, an animal program with 87 attending

Summer Reading: 101 children and 27 adults are participating: CES is providing free lunches for those attending story hour on T & Th, this is a federally funded program which we participated in last year

We congratulate cataloger Margaret Carter who has been accepted as a member of the cataloging committee of Evergreen Indiana, this will mean 4 meetings a year with mileage provided

Teresa went to a circulation meeting today, 6-19-12

Korellis Roofing was complimented for their professionalism in installation of the snow gems

Friends sale was very successful, plus a mini children's sale was done during Story Hour recently

space issues are being studied by staff in keeping with CUTPL's mission statement; staff committee is reviewing and revising our existing space plan to meet the Library's changing needs; libraries are seeing a shift in services from info center to space, place and equipment 3 basic needs identified in CUTPL:

  1. community-meetings rooms, quiet study, tutoring
  2. CUTPL-technical services, computer lab, Friends
  3. changing services-in the computer lab and establishment of a Media Commons:

grant money will be sought for this 3rd need, targeting youth, local business community, performing arts,etc

in compliance with new State law, legal signage prohibiting smoking in the library will be posted July 1,2012: smoking not allowed closer than 8 ft from the entrances to the building

Park Board: Peg Schuldt, none

Unfinished Business:

Evergreen now says to rename The Pass Thru Fund to Evergreen Indiana Fund; this fund is money we collect ( fines, etc) belonging to other libraries

a motion to make this change immediately given by Alfred and seconded by Peg


New Business:

Resolution was submitted concerning E Book Services with the payment fee coming out of the Operating Fund and not the Capital Fund

a motion to accept made by Alfred and seconded by Joan
