Regular Board Meeting January 21, 2014

Time: 7:05 pm - 8:30 pm

Place: Library Large Meeting Room

Annual Financial Meeting

Alfred Nyby, Treasurer, called the meeting to order. Alfred reviewed our investments in a PowerPoint slide. A motion to adjourn this meeting was made by Tom Curtis, seconded by Rhonda Reinhold. The motion passed.

Monthly Board Meeting

Members: Karen Boland, Bill Cleavenger, Tom Curtis, Al Nyby, Melanie Robertson, Rhonda Reinhold, Carol Minarik

Finance Committee Report: Alfred

Policy Committee:

10 minutes at each Board meeting will be allotted for the review of Board's IN the Public Trust Policy Manual. Pages A-1 and A-2 were reviewed.

Salary/Wage Policy revisions

word "salary" will be changed to "wage"

phrase "payments made bi-weekly" to replace "alternate Fridays"

full-time employee wages are annually based

part-time employee wages are hourly based

part-time employees will be receive wage increase one year from their initial hiring date

the usual 26 pay periods for fulltime employees will also be treated like 26 every 11 years (when there are 27 pay periods), with the next such situation occurring in 2015

the Job Description for Ref/Adult Services Manager was a part-time position and is now a fulltime position, plus the added duties of Circulation Manager

Director's Report: Colleen McCarty

for refreshments for the Club Fair held on Jan. 18

paying for staff shirts

buying a new microwave for the staff room

Adult winter reading program already has received many donated prizes from local merchants, whose names are displayed in the Library

we were closed 2 days in Jan. due to Marshall County Warning Level Travel Advisory declaration, per policy

Evergreen update to 2.5 - Feb. 15-16 we will be offline

Annual report in progress - due Feb. 1

Park Board: Rhonda Reinhold

Superintendent Kelly Young's employment was terminated

Ice rink soon to open, no fee

attended IN Parks and Recreation conference

boat slip letters going out soon
