April 21 Board Meeting


Regular Board Meeting April 21, 2015

Time: 7:00 pm – 8:15 pm

Place: Library Large Meeting Room

moved by Tom and seconded by Rhonda to table this until the May meeting


Director’s Report: Colleen McCarty

Centennial Celebration Birthday Party on June 6: review of time schedule for Park, Parade, Lunch, Cake

Board members selected a collared shirt for the event, to be paid for by each member

May 2 at 10:30 am, Kurt Garner will present a program on the architecture of our Carnegie building

Tuesday May19, the Library will be closed to the public from 1 pm – 5 pm for an in-service gathering for the staff and the Board. A representative from the Indiana State Library will speak:

1-3 pm on library ethics in collection development and services

3:30-4:30 on security issues in the library

5-19 at 5:00 pm the Board will be served a meal prior to their regular scheduled meeting, compliments of a local church

May Board meeting will begin at 6 pm; news media has been notified

Friends’ Appreciation luncheon was on the 15th, very well received by staff and Board members

who were able to attend

Park Board: Rhonda Reinhold

new heat and air conditioning completed, decking, pier corrections and upgrade of the building are the main concerns right now

Unfinished Business: none

New Business:

power washing of the Carnegie building

motion by Rhonda and seconded by Karen to have Colleen secure someone to power

wash the Carnegie building, retaining walls and windows


Parker Osborn has given estimates for phase 2 for the upstairs lighting of $10,570 for materials and phase 3 for $15.390 for materials plus $8,000.00 for labor. All of our exterior and interior lighting would be replaced with energy efficient LEDs when phase 3 is completed.

we would apply for another incentive from NIPSCO

moved by Tom and seconded by Rhonda to purchase lighting and pay for labor to complete phase 2 and 3 of lighting project


Tom’s motion to purchase a stove for the break room was tabled. Discussion to be

continued at the May board meeting
