Regular Board Meeting January 20, 2015

Annual Financial Meeting

Colleen presented the Report of Investments for the year 2014.

Rhonda moved to adjourn the meeting and it was seconded by Bill


Monthly Board Meeting

Members: Karen Boland, Bill Cleavenger, Tom Curtis, Melanie Robertson, Rhonda Reinhold

Public comment:

Consideration of patron’s "Statement of Concern about Library Resources"

by Bernadette Shonka regarding the latest Joan of Arc DVD in our collection.

it was moved by Tom to put a statement about the inaccuracies in the DVD

"The Messenger", plus the list of other libraries that have it in their collections and place a copy of the Statement on the DVD case for the film It was seconded by Karen.

MSC (4 yes, 1 no)

presently CUTPL has several works on Joan of Arc, one fictional by Mark Twain and one

nonfiction; trial of Joan of Arc; on order the Latin text of the trial; a bibliography will be included

motion to accept the minutes for December 15, 2014 by Tom and seconded by Karen


Treasurer’s Report: Al Nyby

projected annual budget was very close to actual income and expenses

Review & Approval of the December 2014 Register of Claims

motion to accept by Rhonda and seconded by Tom


presentation of a proposed 2015 budget and problems that might result due to potential shortfalls: high personnel expenses, extra pay period in 2015, varied income from property taxes, lower CAGIT amount

Director’s Report: Colleen McCarty

the annual report is due by the end of this month

the Club Fair included 21 organizations and had good attendance

Winter reading has 28 adults participating, with more expected; this number is up from 2014

the "sail" has been removed from the building, helping to insure the safety of staff and patrons using the Main St. entrance; attractive features of library building revealed by removing "sail" have occasioned positive feedback from patrons

the canopy over the handicapped ramp has carpenter bees; a $2000 estimate for covering the wood with vinyl siding (as done on East side of building) will be considered by Board

the new LED lights are paid for and will be installed in late February (labor not yet paid)

a new hire, Shelly Harrison, will be clerking in Youth Services

Stats will be presented in the next report; 2014 circ has increased over 2012 and 2013

Park Board: Rhonda Reinhold

adding canoe and kayak rentals and sailboat lessons

next meeting will be in March

new heating in all levels of the lodge; waiting for a grant to do more updates to the building

pier A will be renovated and with the new layout we actually gain more pier slips

Unfinished Business:

snow removal: 2 bids from Sellers and F & H Decking

motion to accept F & H Decking by Bill and seconded by Rhonda
