Volunteer hours for May were 35

We received official notice from the Indiana State Library that we are in full compliance with Indiana Public Library Standards

136 people attended our Summer Reading Program kickoff; it was held in the Courtyard and we had crafts and live music

We are again participating in the Federal lunch program for children, here on Tuesdays and Thursdays in June and July

We are taking part in the Culver Farmers Market by providing a once-a-month children’s story hour at the park

We received 2 LSTA (US Library Services and Technology Act) Grants. These federal grants are administered by the Indiana State Library. Local History and Genealogy Librarian Janet Winrotte wrote the grants. The first is “Microfilm Reader Upgrades” in the amount of $2675. The second is a digitization grant entitled “Necrology File of Culver, IN and Vicinity”, in the amount of $2500. With the second grant we commit to provide this digitized collection to Indiana Memory and the Digital Public Library of America. We plan to have Janet will attend our July Board meeting to talk about the grant and the many programs and activities in CUTPL’s Local History and Genealogy Dept.

Our recommended program of the month is the Roz Puppets on June 20, performing Three Billy Goats Gruff.

Please don’t miss our Traveling Exhibit “Local Treasure” here through July 2. This display from the Indiana Historical Society was arranged by Janet and highlights Indiana WPA Post office murals (we have one here in our Culver Post Office!)

Unfinished Business:

Pretesting for pressure has been completed for the HVAC project and D.A. Dodd awaits delivery of the coils

New Business:

Janet has completed her Cataloging course from Ivy Tech and has requested reimbursement for eligible educational expenses in the amount of $500, in compliance with our Educational Reimbursement Policy. She has submitted all required paperwork.
