To maintain personal privacy, patrons of the Culver-Union Township Public Library are responsible for completing forms, applications and online documents by themselves. Library staff is not permitted to input patron’s personal information in credit applications, bank documents, purchasing orders, legal documents or any other forms which involve transmittal of personal information.

If time allows, staff may offer between 5 and 15 minutes of assistance with the following tasks: job applications, unemployment applications, email account setup, attaching files to emails, printing documents and using programs such as Microsoft Office or Adobe Reader.

Staff may also offer between 5 and 15 minutes of assistance with personal laptops or handheld devices when interfacing with library resources, including the following: connecting to the library’s wireless network, checking out eBooks using library resources such as OverDrive, interacting with files on devices such as flash drives or digital cameras or emailing files from a patron’s device to the patron’s personal email address for printing. Library staff should ask permission before interacting with a patron’s own personal device.

Library staff is not permitted to answer questions concerning their personal opinion on technical matters. This includes questions similar but not limited to: best item to purchase in a certain category, best piece of computer software for a certain task, opinions on design or content of documents and/or website forms. Staff may direct patrons to perform their own research to find answers to these questions, or assist with finding online resources or library books with relevant information. Additionally, staff may recommend attendance at the free computer classes available at CUTPL.

Culver-Union Township Public Library assumes no responsibility for direct or indirect damages to a user’s hardware, information storage devices or data as a result of using the library’s computer systems or network.
